FAQs

Some of your questions answered.

What is Oxidising?

Why does my silver go black? What is Oxidising? Silver reacts with the oxygen in the air and slowly turns black, this process can be accelerated by deliberately treating with chemicals in order to give an antique look. Also oxidising can be hastened by accidental contact with chemicals in the environment, for example the application of perfume whilst wearing jewellery. Lightly tarnished silver can easily be brought back to a bright and shiny condition, read our suggestions here.
